Tonight I attended a great wine dinner at Firenze Ristorante in Bellevue. Owner Salvatore Lembo assembled a great group of attendees as usual and had great food and fine Italian wine. It was actually the first time that I've ever eaten rabbit - and it was very tasty. I got to meet many nice people and a couple of extra kind souls. Before I even got an opportunity about me being a hair farmer, one kind man and woman each commented on how much they liked my hair - and thought that I was the "real" Joe Kennedy. After explaining to them that I am "the" "one and only" Joe Kennedy, I thanked them very much for being so kind. Having long hair is still something that is new to me and I'm still get used to. I just assume that it looks like crap and wear a lot of hats. Tonight I put a little gel in my hair to keep it from scraping the ceiling and still think that it is more than a little out of control. It's still hard to believe that some people like it - and it doesn't scare every one away. Hair Farmer Joe January 21 2008 OWTF - I guess I don't really care - I'm growing hair and increasing awareness for children who have real needs caused by medical problems. I'm going to do it regardless of what you think, but I would like your support! Thank you! Hair Farmer Joe |

I received an email the other day from Julia Arnold, a stay at home mom in Sammamish. She has been growing her hair out for quite awhile now and is almost ready to donate. Does anyone know of a salon in Sammamish, Redmond or Bellevue that would be willing to donate a haircut for Julia? Please send an email to

I'd be willing to add a rotating banner ad on this site for any salon or other type of company that wants to make a donation of goods or services. I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank once again our current sponsors: The Queensboro Shirt Company and Autograf hair care products. I really appreciate your support. Another call for Hair Farmers: If you or someone you know has long hair and is willing to donate it for the benefit of a child who loses theirs hair because of medical reasons, please contact me. I'd also love to hear from anyone who is willing to make the committment to grow their hair - please join me! |

It's only been just over 4 months since my last haircut, but this hair farming experience is really getting interesting. My hair is long enough to look really bad, but not long enough for even a short pony tail. I can tell that people have actually started treating me differently - and I'd like to figure out a way to document it ... Any suggestions? Farming hair is definitely not for everyone and at times I feel bad that I made the committment to do so. Then, to clear my mind, I just think of a child who has lost their hair for medical reasons who might just benefit from my hair (or the hair from someone else I recruit to be a hair farmer). No - hair farming is not for everyone, but it is one way to help children in need. And for the guys, it can make people around you wonder if you've lost your mind. At my age (almost 45), there aren't actually a lot of guys who can grow long hair - so I feel especially lucky to give back in this way. Anyone else want to become a hair farmer? Skidoodleski |

Last night at a BizNik event at My Day Office in Seattle, I met some really great people, including Dawn Renee Mallory of Autograf who is a Personal Trainer for Hair. When I told her about my Hair Farming project that is to benefit Locks of Love, she immediately offered to sponsor me with her great hair care products! I am looking very forward to starting to use these products and learn how to take care of the hair I am farming. Please visit the Autograf website and buy their products. Your purchases help support TheHairFarmer.com and our mission. |

Queensboro Shirt Company is a great company in Wilmington, North Carolina that I have purchased very reasonably priced embroidered and printed items from in the past for both Eastside Business and AAA Properties . Their Founder and Chairman, Fred Meyer, has graciously agreed to donate some promotional items for this hair farming project. They even designed our new logo! Please visit their website and buy products from this fine company who are supporting this cause. Thank you to Fred and all the great people at Queensboro Shirt Company! |
