Stephanie Mapelli, who is the President of Leadership Eastside , is the latest person to join the ranks of hair farmers for the benefit of children and Locks of Love.

I just found out the other day at the Grand Opening Party for Countrywide's new offices in the new John L. Scott building in Issaquah, that Quality Home Loan Master Linda Carruthers has been a multi-time hair farmer for the benefit of Locks of Love .  

Linda is part of the Carruthers Team (along with husband Gerald) at Countrywide (soon to be part of Bank of America) and they have been long term advertisers in Eastside Business newspaper for almost our entire history.  They are really great people and have seen the value that we bring to the local business community.

She seems to have serious doubts that I'll grow my hair long enough to donate and in fact seems to think that it will get to a certain point and quit growing.  Has anyone else had this experience?

Danica Kosky of Salish Lodge has recently joined our group of people growing hair for the benefit of children and Locks of Love .  She has beautiful hair and is currently growing it for her third donation.

A week or two ago, I was in the gym and happened to notice that there was a segment on Northwest Afternoon on ABC KOMO TV about a kid who had grown his hair and donated it to Locks of Love.  I thought that was a great story that someone so young (and male) had done it, but also that the story of TheHairFarmer.com project would be an excellent story to feature - especially since there are a growing number of people participating in it.

I applied on their website to tape a public service announcement about the program to air during the show.  Last week I was called and told that I could do it - I just have to bring 15 people with me to sit in the studio audience.  They actually film the show between 9 and 11am (not in the afternoon) and I'm recruiting anyone who would like to be part of our group.  Ideally everyone would be committed to hair farming, but that is not a requirement.  I'd just appreciate the support and opportunity to do the PSA.

I was fortunate to meet Tina Schmid at a meeting of the Real Estate Investors Association of Washington last week.  She was interested in the hair farming story and said that her husband's hair is a lot like mine.

She promptly went home and recruited her husband Paul to become a hair farmer - and he said he'd do it if she would.  So far we have both of them, and they are hoping that their four daughters will join in!  I hope so too - it is great to have new people involved in this project, but very important to get the younger generations involved as well.  We can all do it together!
