Hair Farmer Joe February 20, 2008 PDF Print E-mail
User Rating: / 0

Here's the latest photo of me - taken February 20, 2008.  I put some gel in my hair to calm my hair down, so you cannot see all of it - but you can tell that it is getting longer in the back.

Would you hire this guy?

As has been pointed out to me by numerous people, if I actually get a job, I won't be able to continue to work on some of the great projects I have going on.  It looks like I will be doing a lot more travel writing in the future, with plans in the works for articles on one of two cruise lines and a stay at a Hawaiian resort.  I love doing that stuff, so if you have any suggestions, I would love to hear from you.

BTW - did you see the article I wrote about Whistler for Eastside Business newspaper?

It seems like EB is breaking out of its holiday doldrums and really starting to take off again.  I like all the recent activity - especially the number of new advertisers who are seeking us out to help them get more customers.

Hair Farmer Joe Gets Fired PDF Print E-mail
User Rating: / 0

Last week something happend to me that I wanted to write about right away, but thought better of it.  It's probably still better to keep it quiet, but I guess if the names are changed to protect the innocent (as well as the guilty) it shouldn't cause anyone problems....

The previous week I had started a temporary job that I got through an international employment agency, which had placed me in positions that turned out to be long term twice in the past.  This position was only supposed to have been for two months and I was dreadfully over qualified, but I accepted it cheerfully and was happy to be able to earn a paycheck.

Last Monday, after six days in the accounting office of a Bellevue company, the agency called and told me my services would no longer be needed.  They didn't give a reason, and I didn't asked, but I am curious.  Did they fire me because they didn't like my work?  Simply because I'm a hair farmer?  Maybe it was because I told a couple people that I was a hair farmer for Locks of Love?  Perhaps it was just the fact that they could not keep me busy ...

I've realized since before I started hair farming that it would probably be much more difficult to get a job as a hair farmer, but now I'm wondering - is it going to be even tougher keeping one?

Does anyone know of an open minded employer who would hire someone who is committed to being a hair farmer for the next 12-18 months?  I'd prefer to stay on the Eastside, but will consider all in the Seattle area.  I've got a greatly varied background in real estate, computers and publishing - but can do just about anything.  My resume can be found online at JoeKennedy.biz .

Thank you for your help and feedback.

Dawn Renee Mallory of Autograf hair care products has recently committed to becoming a hair farmer.  Her hair is already pretty long, but she's going to be growing it for a longer period so she can harvest 10-12" for Locks of Love.

Autograf is one of the first sponsors for this project and I'd lilke to thank Dawn and Autograf.

Anyone else want to commit to hair farming and harvesting their hair for the benefit of children who suffer hair loss because of medical problems?  I'll start a list of everyone on the site, so if you've contacted me previously, please contact me again at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it   and I'll get you added.

More Unsolicited Positive Feedback PDF Print E-mail

Today I was at the gym about an hour or so into my workout and a woman was saying something to me.  I couldn't hear her with my headphones on, so I took them off and asked her to repeat herself.  She told me that she worked in a beauty salon and that she thought I had very beautiful hair.

Longer Hair, New Style Gets Mixed Reviews PDF Print E-mail

Tonight I attended a great wine dinner at Firenze Ristorante in Bellevue.  Owner Salvatore Lembo assembled a great group of attendees as usual and had great food and fine Italian wine.  It was actually the first time that I've ever eaten rabbit - and it was very tasty.

I got to meet many nice people and a couple of extra kind souls.  Before I even got an opportunity about me being a hair farmer, one kind man and woman each commented on how much they liked my hair - and thought that I was the "real" Joe Kennedy.  After explaining to them that I am "the" "one and only" Joe Kennedy, I thanked them very much for being so kind.

Having long hair is still something that is new to me and I'm still get used to.  I just assume that it looks like crap and wear a lot of hats.  Tonight I put a little gel in my hair to keep it from scraping the ceiling and still think that it is more than a little out of control.  It's still hard to believe that some people like it - and it doesn't scare every one away.

OWTF - I guess I don't really care - I'm growing hair and increasing awareness for children who have real needs caused by medical problems.  I'm going to do it regardless of what you think, but I would like your support!

 Thank you!

I received an email the other day from Julia Arnold, a stay at home mom in Sammamish.  She has been growing her hair out for quite awhile now and is almost ready to donate.  Does anyone know of a salon in Sammamish, Redmond or Bellevue that would be willing to donate a haircut for Julia?  Please send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

I'd be willing to add a rotating banner ad on this site for any salon or other type of company that wants to make a donation of goods or services.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank once again our current sponsors:  The Queensboro Shirt Company and  Autograf hair care products.  I really appreciate your support.

Another call for Hair Farmers:  If you or someone you know has long hair and is willing to donate it for the benefit of a child who loses theirs hair because of medical reasons, please contact me.  I'd also love to hear from anyone who is willing to make the committment to grow their hair - please join me!
